2024 awards LuncheoN

On September 26, 2024, 400 lawyers, judges, and community leaders gathered at The Ritz-Carlton-Denver, to celebrate the accomplishments of Colorado Lawyers Committee volunteer attorneys and law firms, many of which were honored at the CLC annual Awards Luncheon. During 2023, nearly 1,000 volunteers donated 6,500 hours through the Colorado Lawyers Committee’s 27 active projects in the areas of Children’s Rights & Education, Civil & Criminal Law, Poverty & Public Benefits, Community Development, and Immigration.

Keynote Speaker Amber McReynolds inspired the audience with her talk on innovations in election protection and voter access. She serves as Vice Chair of the United States Postal Service Board of Governors as well as Chair of the Board’s Election and Government Mail Committee.

Another highlight of the luncheon was the announcement of this year’s award recipients:

  • Law Firm of the Year Award. The Board of Directors selected The Harris Law Firm as the Colorado Lawyers Committee Law Firm of the Year. Other nominees for 2024 Law Firm of the Year were Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP, Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP, and Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie LLP. The CLC appreciates the strong dedication of all these attorneys.

  • Outstanding Sustained Contribution Award. Phyllis Wan (Holland & Hart LLP) received the Outstanding Sustained Contribution Award for her work to improve and expand the Hate Crimes Education Program. Phyllis has donated more than 1,000 pro bono hours to this effort over the last two decades, much of that in middle and high school classrooms across Colorado.

  • Individual of the Year Award. The Board of Directors selected Tasha Power as the CLC 2024 Individual of the Year for her pro bono representation of four public school students facing expulsion as part of the Pro Bono School Expulsion Project, as well as her pro bono work on behalf of small business in the state.

  • A Special Recognition Award was presented to the Hate Crimes Education Program which celebrated its 30th year in Colorado classrooms.

  • Richard Westfall of Westfall Law PC also received a Past Chair Award.

The Colorado Lawyers Committee is a 46-year-old nonprofit, non-partisan consortium of almost 80 Colorado law firms dedicated to providing and increasing opportunities for children, the poor and other disadvantaged communities through high impact pro bono legal advocacy, negotiation, and litigation.
